Metal gear but instead of war economy and roided U.S politicians, it’s about bold and brash.
For a game, this is fine minus its shortcomings. For an H-game on the other hand… This is more of a game than H.
The story premise is essentially the whole NFT fiasco in a nutshell. Someone tries to make the MC and her husband’s art museum go bankrupt by attempting to lower the value of their work. And off the MC goes to shank someone.
The worst part is not the gameplay, but the engine.
Doing an action game in RPG maker sounds weird, and maybe could work. But since this is an action game, what do you expect from games of this genre?
Snappy controls, immersion (especially for stealth), enemies without tunnel vision, etc.?
RPG maker doesn’t do that well, having a short but noticeable delay to everything.
Immersion is one trait the game tries to utilize but fails. Mainly due to both environment and audio not providing the feel. Putting it in that context, makes sense why most action H games use a custom engine or a more fleshed out one.
It becomes more glaring since this is STRICTLY show don’t tell. So no text boxes outside of blurbs to describe the plot before entering a stage.
The game doesn’t hand hold you at times, so your understanding of the mechanics really gets tested in bosses. Usually it’s shown to you by what the boss does before the battle starts so pay attention. Each series of stages has a new mechanic for you to learn.
All H scenes are animated and well drawn as well. Every stage has a different one with 8 in total. Though the MC has those “how to draw manga” kind of anime eyes, or 90s style give or take.
The H scenes serve as your continue screen which is a unique touch.
You only get about 10 seconds of the MC in H. But you get to view CG and animation in the gallery. So maybe hold back on busting unless your left hand needs something to do than just exist. The H also doesn’t relate to the story in any way, unless you want to make your own headcanon. Nor does it affect anything else but the continue screen.
Since this game is on Steam, I assume that’s why the H gets shadowed by gameplay. Its even advertised with that in mind. Further confirmed by the ability to disable H entirely within the options.
There are better options out there for stealth H games. The only thing this game has is its uniqueness. The premise, use of H, and way of storytelling, tries to have itself stand out from other H games. But as a stealth game, it might as well be average.
If you do decide to play, then most likely it’d be for the H scenes. Of course you have to play the game. Unlike me who got impatient and quit around the 3rd set of stages.
5/10.
