The executable .exe file works correctly, without any execution problems, but once inside the main menu, pressing the “START” button starts the game with a black screen and the “……………….” dialog box, but no key works to continue or do anything, and the game can only be closed with alt+f4.
In short, you need to use left click to advance dialog, here is the translation for the controls in the readme.txt:

Judging by all the likes my comment has, I can assume that a large percentage of users had the same problem as me, and ~bruh…Of all things in the world, how is it possible that it didn’t occur to me before to try pressing the click before creating a post asking for help?…
I mean if that didn’t work for me, I wouldn’t make that comment either…?
If what kasza said is true, can you please post a screenshot of your installed directory? If some file name are shown as strange letter instead of Japanese, you will need to first set your system locale to Japanese (Japan), then re-download the game and see if that works.
To set system locale in win11:
1. Press windows key, type locale, select “Select language for non-Unicode programmes”
2. Click the box next to “Language for non-Unicode programmes”, and select Japanese (Japan)
Alternatively
1. Press windows key, type control panel and click it
2. Click search bar, type region, and click the only result
3. Click “Administrative”, look for “Language for non-Unicode programs”, click “Change system locale”
4. Under “Current system locale”, click it and select Japanese (Japan), click OK for both window.
Just checked, and US English locale also works. It didn’t work on my European locale, i guess that’s what causes the issue.
Hmm, then it’s pretty strange, since there are barely any Europeans that are downloading or seeding this as for now, and there are quite a few people who has the same issue.
Perhaps there are more locale that has issues than Europeans’. Or there are more to this, like long file path.
I put it directly in C: and it made no difference, so i doubt it’s a long path issue. I didn’t check any other locales, but i’d guess you are right, perhaps anything other than Japanese or standard English is suspect.
It’s one of those odd games that requires you to set your Windows region (locale) to Japanese. Locale emulators don’t work, i’ve tried, only setting the region in Windows globally works. This used to be a common issue back in the day, but after the invention of Unicode became a rare oddity.

Hmm, you are right, it works on US locale too. Weird. I’m in Eastern Europa and use an European locale, so maybe some European quirks cause this problem.
IKR I’m in Australia and my PC OS was defaulted to ENG US and I’ve never had any problem running anything from this site so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
