There are other sites that have password protected rar. If I play a game 10 years from now and keep the password for everything, then chances are I won’t remember the password. It’s also a hassle having to type a password every time I extract a game, but I don’t have to deal with this hassle anymore with the new site I am downloading them (which I am apparently not allowed to mention here, sorry).

And there are numerous reasons why I keep my games in rar format instead of regular folders:

– It takes less time to copy/backup games. It’s much faster to copy 1 rar file than a folder that contains like 1000 individual game files.
– Anti-virus won’t randomly delete the exe for no reason because it thinks it’s a virus. It’s safe inside the rar, and whether it has a password or not is irrelevant.
– Eliminates “filename too long” errors. Sometimes a game contains many folders and if they are too long, then I can’t copy the game because I get this error. No issues though if it’s inside a rar.
– Some games contain read only files, which may not always copy properly especially if I am copying numerous game folders at once. I’ve had to re-download many games in the past because some read only files were missing, this is why I always keep games in rar format now.
– Easier to seed games if I keep them in rar format. If it has password though, then too bad. I won’t seed.
